Ra/E or Ra/P for damage
Ranger/elementlist because of conjure flame, or paragon with burning, plus they can heal. which combination does more damage

Monk or Warrior. I have been going with Warrior to spam Watch Yourself, but Monk is much better.

if you go R/Mo you could use vigorous spirit barrage with a vamp bow, a 2 in 1, you self heal and do extra damage, but it requires an investent into healing prays, at 10 you can get healed for 20hp.

Ehh, Barrage is becoming more and more useless with the new Monster AI. Even in packed areas I can hit no more than 2 monsters with it before they scatter.

Zomg Barrage 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1, etc..
Wow why does most peoples creativity seem to go out the window once they cap Barrage, its mediocre at best unless you have more than 2 in a team. Please encourage new players to do something other than spam barrage, tyvm.
Rangers really dont need to rely on their secondaries to put out the damage, with the exeption of thumper. You can try, kindle, rtw, combined with dual/marauders>punishing>savage r spike style which is my usual MO, im also liking burning arrow combined with apply poison which is great pressure, added with screaming shot for even more degen.
Some secondaries are good for getting rid of conditions, /mo -mending touch /a sig of malice. Whereas as jeff said /w has some good shouts, as does /p.

Any build with Apply Poison, Savage Shot and Distracting Shot is good.
/W is go(o)d for Flail, /Mo for mending Touch (2 energy!!1!)
The truth is, rangers aren't made for dmg. Certainly not in PvE. If you want to deal dmg go make a warrior, a derv or a sin.
Barrage sucks.
R/E and R/P suck too, unless you're spear chucker.

QFT. Too bad that Watch Yourself! doesn't add 20 armor no matter the level in tactics anymore. I used to do that for fun sometimes.

If you want high dmg output, take a Swift Sunderer, IMO the best build if your focussing for dmg output

go mesmer!!! if you really need a hard res go kill another boss, and so what if the only realy reason to do this is so you can add frustration to your broadhead arrow skillbar. but seriously, rit has some interesting options as well... (it sure is a bummer that they made spirits strength for rit primary...)

I use Ranger Monk in PvE but i use R/E in AB because i like to kill mobs with conjure flame and barrage. I dont like skills like Kindle Arrows or Ignite Arrows because I dont like having to put attributes into Expertise, i would rather just have Bow mastery, and Fire magic, with a little bit in Wilderness survival for Troll Ungent. But that is for AB, in PvE you would want a pet and such...

Umm expertise is FTW, i wish my monk had it. I usually go R/Mo on my ranger (when i play pve) so i can bring a res (so the monks dont have to), and mending touch is just awesome.

umm... Expertise and Soul Reaping are the best primary attributes imo.

heehee, I was farming bosses this weekend with r/rt
[skill]Painful Bond[/skill][skill]Pain[/skill][skill]Bloodsong[/skill][skill]Shadowsong[/skill][skill]Dissonance[/skill][skill]Oath Shot[/skill][skill]Whirling Defense[/skill][skill]Throw Dirt[/skill]
running 12 channel, 10 communing and the rest in expertise with sup and mask. Self heal for the lucky hits through blind was the only issue. No energy problems either maintaining the 3 important spirits and painful bond, just throw up dissonance when you get a chance.
Obviously ther're some nice synergies with the weapon spells and hard res as well... check out splinter weapon with barrage (if you can get more than one target to stand still lol) I personally love warmongers weapon.
